IMPORTANCE OF E-LEARNING IN EDUCATION

Education had always been in a classroom of students with a teacher-centered process until recently in this century when the Physical presence of a Teacher (Instructor,Facilitator,or Lecturer as it may be) was being slowly replaced by Information technological advances into the Industry.
When you talk of a classroom environment, honestly am one of those traditional instructors who began using the original black chalkboard. I have witnessed the rapid evolution of Instructional Technologies  over the years, and of course made a daunting effort of attending a lot of professional development courses so as to dynamically fit into the new developments.
The growth of  the E-learning industry could be traced back to the 1980s and even well before that when distance learning was conducted in form of televised courses.
The convenience and affordability caused by Technology has created e-learning tools for education to be facilitated from virtually anywhere.
The presence of intuitive features in most E-learning tools offers a variety of formats such as videos, slideshows, word documents and PDFs. Conducting webinars for live online classes and communicating with professors via chat and message forums is also an option available to users.
The advent of Smartphone’s, text messaging and using the internet has fuelled the progress of this industry, not withstanding the plethora of message boards, social media and other means of online communication that allow learners to keep in touch and discuss course related matters, whilst providing for a sense of massive learner-support communal structure.
Inspite of its own strengths, traditional learning is proving to be expensive which has created more room for the rapid growth of E-learning given the fact that its much faster, cheaper and potentially better as an alternative.E-learning technologies are widely available for course content and also to employees in big corporations. The Human Resource Departments have effectively utilized the presence of E-learning tools.
Your knowledge about E-learning will save an oblivious walk down the road of irrelevancy ultimately. As you may have observed, these new technologies close up the generational gap given the “Hitech” attribute accorded to post-modern learners. Therefore its pertinent that ETD practitioners begin to join workshops and courses for purposes of continuing education and reducing the risks of structural unemployment.
